Background

The society was founded shortly after the end of World War 2, by a group of musically minded friends in the Oxted and Limpsfield area. Concerts are given by professional musicians, including some at the start of their international careers and others further along that road. Members also enjoy Club Evenings, usually but not always in private homes, when talented members and others show their musical abilities.

The Society has been fortunate to have help and advice over the years from distinguished international pianists Eileen Joyce and our current President, Imogen Cooper. Equally Wulstan Atkins, a godson of Elgar, took on the chairmanship and with his wife, who had been a professional musician, used their joint connections in the music world to attract a number of artists with international reputations and also to develop one of the Society's declared aims - to encourage young musicians.

Concerts now are usually held in the Millennium Theatre of Hazelwood School, Wolfs Hill, Limpsfield, Oxted, but please note that in March 2012 the concerts will be held at the church of St Peter's, Limpsfield High Street.

We look forward to welcoming you to our concerts.
